Indian ishtyle black-eyed peas!
Ingredients
- Lobia- 1 cup
- Tomato - 2 medium
- Ginger/garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Green chili - 2
- Red chili powder, 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder- 1 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1 tbsp
- Whole garam masala -2 tbsp
- Salt
- Ghee/butter - 2 big tbsp
Procedure
- Soak lobhia and pressure cook it for about whistles.
- Take a kadai, add ghee or clarified butter, whole garam masala's and bay leaf and fry well.
- Add ginger garlic paste, fry for a minute and add sliced onion and fry till golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook till it becomes soft and tender.
- Add all the dry powders and fry it till the oil is separated.
- Now add Lobhia mix well. Add salt and adjust spice level according to your taste.
- Pressure cook it for about 4 to 5 whistles.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with roti/parata/rice.
